Armed men attack guests at wedding do (Keratan berita dari The Star, 4 Jun 2007)

JOHOR BARU: It was supposed to be a happy occasion for guests attending a wedding ceremony in Permas Jaya here but instead 20 of them ended up being injured when they were attacked by a group of men armed with parangs and steel rods.

The commotion started when a man in his 20s, believed to be the ex-boyfriend of the bride, created a ruckus as he arrived at the reception in Jalan Permas 2 on Saturday.

Suddenly 14 men armed with parangs and steel rods arrived in three cars and started attacking the guests outside the house. The bride, groom and their family members managed to dash into the house.

The attackers left after 15 minutes.

Johor Baru (South) OCPD Asst Comm Shafie Ismail said the guests only suffered minor cuts and bruises.

He also said three hours later, a group of men in two cars from the bride's party, went to a house in Jalan Permas 8 – believed to be the home of one of the attackers and broke windows and other structures.

ACP Shafie said these men also set a Proton Wira ablaze and broke the windows of another vehicle at a house nearby.

“We have identified the people involved in both incidents,” he said.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated incident, police discovered the body of a 56-year-old man in Pantai Lido yesterday.

ACP Shafie said the body of Abdul Salam Abdul Rahman was discovered by police at about 12.30pm in front of Sultanah Aminah Hospital.

“Initial investigations revealed that he had a stroke two days ago,” he said.

He urged anyone with information to contact the police hotline at 07-2212999 or the nearest police station.

Terkejut!memang terkejut!Abang ipar aku (suami kakak aku yang sulung) meninggal dunia pada 3 Jun 2007 seminggu selepas meraikan perkahwinan anaknya yang sulung (anak sedara aku). Aku menerima panggilan telefon dari mak pada hari kejadian. Ketika itu aku berada di Penang atas hal kerja. mak aku dengan teresak-esak menangis memberitahuku abang iparku sudah tiada. Aku memang terkejut.Walaupun aku tahu yang arwah telah dimasukkan ke hospital kerana sakit jantung dua hari sebelum tu, namun aku tidak menyangka pemergiannya kerana arwah pergi bukan disebabkan oleh penyakitnya. Rasa sedih memang bersarang kerana tidak sampai seminggu aku bertemu dengan arwah dan melihat arwah gembira sekali atas perkahwinan anaknya yang sulung. Dan belum pun setahun kakak aku kehilangan ayahnya dan kini terpaksa menerima hakikat bahawa dia kehilangan pula suaminya. Ujian dari Allah memang berat namun kita perlu menghadapinya. takziah buat kakakku dan anak saudaraku. Kita bersama-sama hadapi kehidupan ini dengan lebih tabah. Al fatihah buat Arwah Abdul Salam bin Abdul Rahman.
